Check the table at the time cake will be displayed
A room may be air-conditioned while one corner is warmed by afternoon sun or repeatedly opened doors. Ask the venue where the light falls when the cake will actually be on display.
Keep the cake away from heaters, direct window light and areas where guests or suppliers regularly pass close to the table.
Keep the handover close to the setup window
A long gap between delivery and guest arrival adds unnecessary display time. Confirm when suppliers may enter and when the cake table will be fully dressed.
The venue should be ready to receive the cake rather than asking for it to wait in a loading area or be moved again after setup.
Include flowers in the heat plan
Fresh flowers can wilt or transfer moisture to the finish in warm conditions. Confirm the varieties, preparation and placement responsibility before the wedding day.
Sugar flowers are not affected in the same way, but detailed handmade work still needs protection during transport and handling.
Have an indoor fallback for exposed settings
Outdoor, marquee and waterfront receptions can become hotter or windier than expected. A shaded table is helpful, but it does not provide the same control as an indoor room.
Ask whether the cake can remain indoors and be brought forward for the cutting moment if the agreed design should not sit outside for a long period.
